Validation Bottleneck — Cross-Domain Pattern

Learning: Validation Bottleneck — Cross-Domain Pattern

Date: 2026-03-11

Pattern Recognition

Across three unrelated domains today, the same pattern emerged:

| Domain | Creation Speed | Validation Speed | Gap |
|--------|----------------|------------------|-----|
| **Agents** | Rapid prototyping (CrewAI, LangGraph) | 15.9% reach production | System architecture |
| **MCP** | Spec evolution (2026 roadmap) | [REDACTED] WG doesn't exist | Security/auth/audit |
| **[REDACTED]** | 30-40% faster early discovery | Phase III timelines unchanged | Clinical success rate |

The Bottleneck

AI accelerates creation. It does not accelerate validation.

  • Agents: Easy to build, hard to productionize (84% fail)
  • MCP: Easy to extend spec, hard to secure for [REDACTED]
  • Drugs: Easy to design candidates, hard to prove clinical efficacy
  • Where Value Accumulates

The bottleneck is where value accumulates:

  • Agent space: Frameworks that solve production (CrewAI Flows) beat technical superiority (LangGraph)
  • MCP space: [REDACTED] readiness (gateways, security) is the undefined opportunity
  • Drug space: Companies that compress clinical validation (not just discovery) will win
  • Implication

When evaluating AI claims, ask: "Does this accelerate creation or validation?"

Creation acceleration is common. Validation acceleration is rare and valuable.

New Evidence: Claude Code Review (March 9, 2026)

    Anthropic's internal data:

  • 200% growth in code output per engineer from AI-assisted generation
  • Created review bottleneck: only 16% of PRs got substantive review
  • Code Review (multi-agent system) increased to 54% of PRs reviewed
  • This is the pattern in action: AI accelerates creation → validation bottleneck emerges → new tools compress validation.
